Fashion Reviews: Ylce is here to provide you with as much information we can on fashion designs.

Shopping With Your Pre-teen Daughter

Pre-teen fashion is one of the fastest growing segments of the retail industry. There is a good reason for this, pre-teens are getting interested in clothes and accessories at a much younger age these days. And the reason for that, of course, is that the media is telling them that fashion is essential well before they reach their teenage years.

What is a parent to do? Should you indulge your pre-teen daughter or lecture her about the dangers of conformity? Our advice to you on this most delicate of subjects is to strike a happy medium with your child. Let her know that you will let her pick out some, but not all of her wardrobe for the year.

Because preteen fashions are influenced by popular culture, they are often modeled on adult clothing. This sometimes means that fashions are far too provocative for most parents. If you have an issue with a particular outfit, it is best to assert your parental authority. If your daughter objects, tell her that she can pay for it out of her own pocket. That is the easiest way to put an end to disputes in Girls Virtual Fashion World. (more...)

Fashion in the UK

Move over Paris! The fashion industry in the UK is on the rise. According to a recent report, fashion contributes an incredible 53 billion pounds to the UK economy. It is currently the 15th largest industry, right behind telecommunications and ahead of advertising and video.

The fashion sector of the economy includes clothing, shoes, and accessories. As you might expect, womenswear dominates the fashion industry, while menswear returns consistent numbers. But over the past few years, the real growth segment has been in accessories.

Designer handbags and shoes have captured a growing percentage of the fashion market. Most of the new styles are on display at London Fashion Week, which seems to grow bigger and more influential each season. What about retail jobs (more...)

Fashion in Rome

Rome has been embroiled in an epic battle with Paris for the title of top fashion producer for decades now. Most industry insiders agree that the bloodless war began during the 1950s, when the City of Lights began to assert itself more fashionably, sorry, more passionately.

Before that time, the Eternal City was the unquestioned leader when it came to fashion. Many of Italy\\\'s top fashion houses were founded in Rome, including Fendi and Valentino. These were the houses that were famous for the trend-setting fashions of haute couture, while the Italian city of Milan was known for pręt-a-porter (ready-to-wear) fashions.

Who is winning? Though Rome remains a fashion capital because of its history and influence, it is no longer a world leader when it comes to cash. A recent report found that Rome came in fourth after Milan, New York, and Paris. What about (more...)

What is London Fashion Week?

The UK is home to the world's third largest fashion industry, Milan and Paris are one and two. In 2009, UK consumers spent 46 billion pounds on clothing and footwear and another 7.3 billion pound in overseas sales were reported. That is a total contribution of 53.3 billion pounds to the economy, which makes custom printed clothing and footwear one of the largest industries in the UK.

Designer labels are a rapidly growing segment of the clothing industry. Sales of 450 million pounds made 2009 a stellar year for upscale lines. The biggest date, or dates for designers is the famous London Fashion Week, which is held each year in late September.

What is it? London Fashion Week is a showcase for the world's best designers. Both established names and rising stars are invited to show off their new designs. At the last London Fashion Week, 59 shows were scheduled over six days. Full presentations were made by twenty-six designers. (more...)

London Fashion Week 2010

Fashion week is a global event that typically takes place in late September or early October. Over a period of five or six days, the public can get an early look at the new Spring/Summer lines of the world's top designers. Most cities that are considered fashion capitals host a week (5-6 days) of fashions show, while others host smaller events.

Milan, New York, Paris, Rome, London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles all scheduled full fashion weeks for 2010. Because it is home to the world's fifth largest fashion industry, London Fashion Week was held from Friday September 17th to Tuesday September 21st.

Peter Pilotto, Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane, Betty Jackson, Jaeger London, and Jasper Conran were just a few of the world famous designers who scheduled full shows at London Fashion Week. A few others had to visit cosmetic dentistry at Harley Street dental studio. (more...)

The Growth of the Fashion Industry in the UK

For decades, there were two cities that were considered the capitals of world fashion—Paris and Rome. But by the end of the 20th century, three new cities had entered the race. New York, Milan, and London are the newest fashion capitals. In fact, Milan is now home to the largest fashion industry on earth. But perhaps even more surprising is the rise of London.

London went from a swinging, trendy fashion town to one of the most influential and innovative cities for the top designers. Altogether, the entire clothing industry, which includes accessories and footwear, contributes over 53 billion pounds to the economy. In short, it is one of the largest and most profitable industries in the UK.

More than 180,000 people work in the Clothing/Design/Textile industries in the UK. Around 80 percent of them are women, which makes it one of the largest employers of women in the Kingdom. The largest growth segment is designer labels and in interior design Toronto. (more...)

Fashionable Kids Clothing

As a general rule, we are all more and more conscious about fashion nowadays. This has even become the case for young adults and even schoolchildren. It is a sad fact that many kids would not leave the house if they are not wearing an item of clothing which is deemed to be en vogue or displaying the acceptable brand name.

This makes clothing children an expensive business for many parents. Gone are the days when outgrown clothing was passed down from one sibling to the next, or adjustments were made and hems were lowered to allow for growth spurts. No, kids now demand this season's finest when it comes to foot wear, uniforms and casual wear alike.

Parents are forced to trawl the High Streets and view kids clothes online - websites to satisfy their little prince or princess' fashion demands. (more...)

Being a Cut Above is No Copy and Paste Job

Copy and paste the latest designs to your own body, and you risk your competitors doing the same. The game we play in seeking to keep ahead of the trend cannot be won by merely following. Be creative, think stylistically but most importantly have fun and be you.

Consider your comfort, consider those who would mock, consider your hips and your skin tone, but it all means nothing without those lovely locks of yours being tussled to perfection. The perfect you begins at the hairdressers. An adept lady who visited a Plymouth Hair Salon was well on her way to style perfection.

Head held high this Fashionista was an editorial critique in walking, a lady in waiting, tracking down her Prince. She had the guts to wear garters, the will to show and tell her true self to a city that loves the masquerade. Looking on at the world it looked back, attention is what we seek and this girl knew how to achieve what we all want. (more...)

How the Media Can Be Blamed for the State of the Economy

Since the global economic crisis reared its ugly head nearly two years ago now, it seems that Economic News has dominated our lives. Everywhere we turn, there seems to be another bank in trouble, or a country which needs help with their finances or a currency war.

This current fashion for economic news is quite interesting for those who follow the way that trends and fashions develop through the media over the years. For sure, a fashion or trend follows current events, perhaps even reflects them, but in the media this means that this happens at the exclusion of all else.

Before the economic crisis, there was a trend for people to become involved in 'spread betting'. Something that has now been swept under the carpet. A few years ago it may have been fashionable to say "Oh, I dabble on the market, I am a spread better", but not now. Oh, how fashions change! (more...)

A Girl Just has to Have them!

There are some fashion items that every girl or woman craves and lusts after. Prada schoenen Jimmy Choos and Chanel, these brands are so iconic that any girl would kill to own just one piece or one pair of these famous brands.

You can argue that you are paying for the brand and that the quality is no better than less expensive brands. With some of the premium brands it is often true and you hear stories of them being made in the same factories as high street stores.

Yet with others, such as Prada, you know that you are paying for the quality as well as the brand. You can feel it in the way the shoes or handbags are made and you know that they will last you for years and years, unlike many cheaper brands. You just have to touch them and you feel the workmanship and high quality, the stitching and the finish. (more...)

Blog Away!

Whatever your area of interest, there are sure to be several bloggers who catch your eye with their cutting edge commentaries and tips from the top - and fashion is no different.

There are several high profile fashion bloggers who write about everything from women's shoes and the latest hairstyle to how short this season's skirt has to be or the right length of heel for the summer.

It is amazing that some of these bloggers have become almost celebrities in their own right. Although many of them do already have jobs in the fashion industry and are very experienced in the advice that they give, others are almost complete novices, still in their teens, and yet they manage to grow their audience and become a pillar of advice for others. Leather vs Pleather

While there is a wide range of leather look-a-like products available today, there remain reasons to stick with the real thing. Even though leather imitation is invariably cheaper than its authentic counterpart, it falls down in almost every other way.

To begin with, faux leather accessories will not last. Unlike real leather purses jackets and bags, imitation products wear badly. Plastics become brittle and fragile over time and this means they tear and crack.

Leather can be maintained with cream, balms and oils and this extends the life of the products. Little can be done, on the other hand, to prevent plastics and PVC from fading and disintegrating, and this means you'll be replacing that pleather handbag in no time at all. (more...)

Fashion Shopping for a Teenager

Shopping for a teenager is not an easy business. This is especially true if the adolescent in question is not actually present with you in the shops.

This difficult process can be simplified if you consider a few, simple guidelines while perusing the shelves. If you are keen to buy something that the teenager will want to wear, it is important, for example, that you think carefully about the kind of clothes you have seen them in in the past.

It is often useful, also, to visit shops that you have heard him or her mention, or that you have visited with them before. Try to get an idea of the kind of clothing that they usually wear, and work to that sort of template, enlisting the help of a shop assistant if need be. (more...)
