Fashion week is a global event that typically takes place in late September or early October. Over a period of five or six days, the public can get an early look at the new Spring/Summer lines of the world's top designers. Most cities that are considered fashion capitals host a week (5-6 days) of fashions show, while others host smaller events.
Milan, New York, Paris, Rome, London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles all scheduled full fashion weeks for 2010. Because it is home to the world's fifth largest fashion industry, London Fashion Week was held from Friday September 17th to Tuesday September 21st.
Peter Pilotto, Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Kane, Betty Jackson, Jaeger London, and Jasper Conran were just a few of the world famous designers who scheduled full shows at London Fashion Week. A few others had to visit cosmetic dentistry at Harley Street dental studio.
Though the final numbers are not yet in, we can tell you how well London Fashion Week did last year. The event was a huge boon to the sputtering economy of London as it produced over 20 million pounds. London Fashion Week draws an average of about five thousand paying guests, not including the press.
In 2009, designers had their best year on record as advanced orders topped one hundred million pounds. There were only 26 designers in the show, so that is an incredibly impressive figure.
